As an artist in residence invited by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, I got interested in the voice as a medium for emotions. At that time the personal ads published in popular newspapers were related to voice message boxes. One could thus listen to the voices of the ads’ authors. It was funny and dramatic at the same time to realize that only with one or two odd exceptions the ad’s message corresponded to the person’s voice. During the amorous monologues I very meticulously chopped apples, and sometimes even a real animal heart.
